Usually attributive, in combination, and in phrases: Bokkeveld bed, Bokkeveld Series, Bokkeveld times (Geology), designating a geological group of the Cape System comprised of alternating beds of shale and sandstone, situated in the valleys between the Cape fold-mountains, and dating from the Lower Devonian age; Bokkeveld Karoo, that part of the Karoo closest to the Bokkeveld (or Ceres district); see also Karoo sense 1 a and b.

- The area known as the Bokkeveld is comprised of the Warm (Afrikaans Warme) Bokkeveld, the lower-lying basin surrounding the town of Ceres, and the Cold (Afrikaans Koue) Bokkeveld, the higher-lying area to the north of that town.
