Especially along the Western Cape coast, either of two species of seabream of the Sparidae: a. The black musselcracker (see musselcracker sense 2), Cymatoceps nasutus. b. The white musselcracker (see musselcracker sense 2), Sparodon durbanensis; also with defining word, sand stompkop.

1990 M. Holmes in E. Prov. Herald 14 Sept. 18In the Western Cape they knew the musselcracker as white biskop, while Tsitsikamma anglers called them perdetand or stompkop. The Border fishermen called them silver steenbras.
