Southern Sotho, isiXhosa, isiZuluShow more Southern Sotho, noun prefix se- + -shweshwe (or -shoeshoe), ‘of the people of Moshoeshoe (Moshesh)’. Forms with the noun prefix isi- probably result from the writers’ mistaken perception of the word as isiXhosa or isiZulu.
