Sansco, noun

Acronym formed on South African National Students’ Congress, the name, from December 1986, of the student organization formerly known as Azaso. Cf. Cosas.
Note:
The change of name from ‘Azaso’ to ‘Sansco’ was intended to prevent confusion with Azapo and Azasm (of the Black Consciousness movement). See also quotation 1991 at SASO.

Sansco merged with Nusas in 1991 under the name ‘Sansco’.
