- Acronym formed on Azanian Students’ Organization.
A grouping founded in 1979 to represent Black university students, and later affiliated to the United Democratic Front (see UDF noun2).
- Note:
- Although initially seen by some as a replacement for the banned SASO, this organization opposed Black Consciousness; to avoid confusion on this point, it was renamed Sansco in December 1986.
