IsiZulu, PortugueseShow more IsiZulu insimango, probably related to isimanga something surprising, isimangamanga something wondrous or beautiful; or perhaps related to Portuguese samango lazy man.
In full samango monkey: either of two species of the forest monkey Cercopithecus mitis (or albogularis) of the Cercopithicidae: a. C. m. labiatus, with dark-brown face and shoulders, long white throat-hair extending upwards on each side like a collar, and sooty-grey saddle, occurring from the Eastern Cape northeastwards to the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands. b. C. m. erythrarchus, similar to labiatus but with yellowish saddle and reddish-brown lower back, occurring in the north-eastern parts of South Africa and in countries to the north.
