Origin:
Named for the founding leader Ngqika (c1775–1829), son of Mlawu and grandson of Rharhabe.
a. A member of one of the major branches (and its consolidated chiefdoms) of the Rharhabe division of the Xhosa peoples; Gaika; Rharhabe sense b. b. obsolete. Rharhabe sense a (so called through confusion as to the composition and leadership of the two peoples). Also attributive.
