1991 Philatelic Bulletin (No. 8075)Potchefstroom Koekoek, This breed of fowl was developed at the Agricultural Research Institute at Potchefstroom..from White Leghorn and Black Australorp crosses and the colouring was improved by a few crossings with breeds with barred plumage. In 1976 the Koekoek was registered as an acknowledged breed.
