The century plant Agave americana of the Agavaceae, with a rosette of thick, spiny leaves and a tall inflorescence which is produced once only, after which the plant dies.
Note:
Introduced from Central America, the garingboom has occasionally been used as a fodder-plant during times of drought, and as a hedge-plant.
