1810 M.C. Gie in G.M. Theal Rec. of Cape Col. (1900) VII. 432I can discover nothing further about the place..than that the Erf Grond brief contains 52 morgens 120 roods measured land.
1934 C.P. Swart Supplement to Pettman. 49Erfgrondbrief,..The first title-deed or original grant of land held on a tenure that formerly existed in Cape Colony, called ‘loan freehold’. The term also applied to the first title-deed or grant of such land when under Sir John Cradock’s Proclamation of 1813 the tenure was changed into ‘perpetual quitrent’.
