An organization formed in 1979 to represent the owners and drivers of ‘minibus taxis’ (see taxi sense 1). Also attributive.

1990 E. Prov. Herald 19 Jan. 2A spokesman for the company confirmed that only ‘about 15% to 20%’ of Sabta’s taxis were covered by it (sc. insurance). Sabta represents more than 90% of all taxi owners in South Africa.
