Origin:
So named by Francois le Vaillant after a Khoikhoi woman with whom he formed a romantic attachment, and who, at his request, adopted the name Narina (Khoikhoi ‘flower’). Cf. Nerine.
In full Narina trogon: the tropical and subtropical forest bird Apaloderma narina of the Trogonidae, noted for its bright metallic green and red plumage; bush lory.
