NECC, noun

Origin:
Initial letters of National Education Co-ordinating Committee (or, until late 1989, of National Education Crisis Committee).
An organization formed to co-ordinate left-wing opposition to the government’s education policies, and to devise alternative policies. Also attributive.
Note:
The NECC was formed in March 1986 as a result of a conference called by the Soweto Parents’ Crisis Committee in December 1985 to discuss national education.
