Vaal Triangle, noun phrase

Origin:
Named for the Vaal river, which flows through the centre of the ‘triangle’ formed by the three cities.
The highly industrialized area of what was formerly called the southern Transvaal (now Gauteng) and the northern Free State, being largely enclosed within an imaginary figure formed by lines joining the cities of Vereeniging, Vanderbijlpark, and Sasolburg. Also attributive.
